Traditional Pucker-Toe Moccasins Workshop
Métis Crossing will host a Traditional Pucker-Toe Moccasins Workshop from March 20–22, 2026 at Métis Crossing in Smoky Lake County, Alberta. The workshop begins with an evening session on March 20, followed by full-day sessions on March 21 and 22 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
This hands-on workshop invites participants to learn traditional Métis techniques for creating pucker-toe moccasins. Guided by a Traditional Teacher and Knowledge Holder, attendees will learn about the cultural significance of moccasins while handcrafting their own pair. Participants will also have the opportunity to add simple beading or embroidery to personalize their moccasins.
All materials are provided, including hide, fur, lining, wool, beads, thread, needles, sinew, and a custom pattern. The workshop is open to participants ages 10 and older, with limited spaces available.
