Traditional Métis Plant Harvesting Protocols Workshop
Métis Crossing will host a Traditional Métis Plant Harvesting Protocols Workshop on April 25 or April 26, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Métis Crossing in Smoky Lake County, Alberta.
This hands-on workshop introduces participants to plants important to Métis culture and the respectful, seasonal protocols for harvesting them. Guided by a Métis Knowledge Holder and Traditional Teacher, attendees will learn about traditional uses, proper handling and storage methods, and basic techniques for preparing teas, salves, and other plant-based items.
All supplies are included, and the experience takes place partly outdoors, so participants are encouraged to dress for the weather. Space is limited to small groups to ensure an engaging learning environment.
