Repurpose Your Denim Jacket Workshop at Métis Crossing
Métis Crossing is hosting a Repurpose Your Denim Jacket Workshop on March 28–29, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Métis Crossing in Smoky Lake County, Alberta.
This two-day hands-on workshop invites participants to bring an old denim jacket and transform it into a unique piece of wearable art while learning Métis traditional techniques. Guided by a Métis Traditional Teacher and Knowledge Holder, attendees will learn the basics of appliqué, beading, embroidery, tufting, ribbon work, and hand sewing.
All materials for the decorative work are provided, and coffee and tea are included. Participants are asked to bring their own denim jacket. The workshop is open to adults and youth ages 10 and older.
